Local Ranges
This course is the state required prerequisite for applying for a Texas License To Carry (LTC) – formerly Concealed Handgun License (CHL). The course includes classroom presentation of the LTC laws and guidelines, the required shooting test, and completion of the required paperwork. This is a 4-6 hour training course as required by state law. The pace of the course is determined by the size of the class and engagement of participants. Basic knowledge and skills are required for this course.

To submit an online LTC application, visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website at: https://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/txapp/txdps/chl/. Simply follow the instructions on the site. Participants don’t have to do this before the class; however, it is encouraged.

Step 2: Complete LTC Class
Step 3: Apply to Texas DPS

Step 4: Submit Fingerprints
Step 5: Gather LTC Supporting Documents
Step 6: Submit Supporting Documents to Texas DPS
Step 7: Wait
Once applicant has completed the LTC course, submitted all required documentation and paid all fees, the Texas DPS will process the application and notify the applicant by mail if further information or additional documents are required. If application is processed and approved a license will be issued.

LTC On Demand instruction meets all of the requirements of the traditional LTC class but is delivered to a maximum of eight students in a private session. This session is ideal for families and small groups.
